Air-Vacuum Relief Valves

The RB-2AV Air Vent / Vacuum Relief Valve has a large orifice to allow air to escape during pipeline filling and to reenter during pipeline filling, air must be allowed to escape to prevent blockages and surges, which can damage the pipe. And during pipeline draining, air must be allowed to reenter to prevent vacuum, which can cause the pipe to collapse. These valves do not release air from pipelines once the pipelines are under pressure.
The RB-2AV valves are typically installed at all high points along the line, near all pipe ends, downstream of any line shutoff valve, upstream of pump check valves, and every quarter of a mile on long pipelines. Rain Bird Air Vent / Vacuum Relief valves are manufactured of cast aluminum (body), engineering grade plastic (float), and 300 series stainless steel (stem).
